Wasaphone: a great new Lo-Fi microphone

Hi all,

I've been a-looking for a lo-fi mic for sometime now to use in the studio and, mainly, live (some of you may have read my endless posts on other forums). I finally came across the Wasaphone I on eBay and I absolutely love it.

I just wanted to share the fruits of my quest with y'all and hope that others will enjoy their gear as I do. They are affordable and nail the tonal balance of grit and warmth.

There's a great lil' demo of their flagship model here:

Way cool. Reminds of the sound Jack White gets on some stuff. And he will use retro stuff like this, record on reel to reel, run through an overdriven tube amp. Some "organic" things you just can't do with digital and solid state. Just like, my Fender 85 amp has spring reverb. It's just a different sound than digital editing.

Yea, for sure. It's all about using a 'real' piece of gear to get an authentic sound as much as possible. Plugins always feel like such a cop-out.

Re: Wasaphone: a great new Lo-Fi microphone

The "organic" thing has become popular to the point of record companies once again releasing on vinyl LPs because people miss the sound of the needle and the purely analog function of a needle bobbing along in grooves.
