XLR Cable

Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum so hello to you all. It's nice to meet you!

Just got back from practise after wrecking yet another mic cable! I keep breaking the xlr connectors. I'm a pretty energetic frontman so the mic sees a lot of action but I'm not clumsy, I take care not to step on the cable or subject it to any unnecessary abuse (like swinging it around Roger Daltry style) but this is getting to be a bit of a joke.

First of all, I'm going to pick up a pair of top quality XLRs.

Does anyone have any tips for protecting the connections? It occurred to me to loop a section of the cable in my hand to avoid any unnecessary tugging on the connection.

Many thanks and looking forward to hearing what you guys have to say on the topic.

Chris

Re: XLR Cable

What the heck do you do?! :)  I've never seen anyone break a connector.

Re: XLR Cable

I don't exactly break them. They just stop working. And I have to buy a new one.

Re: XLR Cable

I'm a sound guy.  My vocal cables are almost 10 years old, and I've not had a failure.  Home made even.

Try the cables from Audiopile.net.

Re: XLR Cable

XLR cable is a circular cable and it is the most common connectors in the audio world, the port has three interior metal connectors that send the audio signal from the microphone into the connected audio equipment.

Re: XLR Cable

I believe Planet Waves cables have a lifetime warranty.

Worth a look. I use them in my shed (um... studio) but not live... yet.
