TC Create pedal and a steve perry 'tone'

hi,

before i ask my question i want to let you know i appreciate it's all in the voice, in the same way a great guitar player would say "it's all in the fingers!" but here's my question:

how easy is it..or is it even indeed possible, to create a steve perry type eq and reverb etc with a TC Create pedal. (i haven't bought the pedal yet, hence the question) i love the tone to his vocal and as i say, i appreciate he has a tone and talent that he was born with!!!

is his voice even processed!?!

we're covering some hard rocking tracks, like Anyway you want it. and i wonder if the TC Create will help my vocal 'sound'.
I'm using an EV 767A mic (great choice by the way Rob..thanks).

would welcome all your views.

Mip, try posting this in the TC-Helicon discussion so the guys at TC-Helicon can see it.  However, I dont expect the Journey vocal effects to be too sophisticated, probably just some doubling in the studio and reverb.

Compression, EQ, Reverb baring that doubling but kept way down so you barely hear it.

Re: TC Create pedal and a steve perry 'tone'

There's a technique where you eq the aux send to the reverb differently than the vocal track itself which results in a nice "breathy" almost saxophone like reverb. You get that ultra high reverb room ambience but use EQ to remove the sibillant frequencies in the aux send before it gets processed. Otherwise you would exaggerate every "s" and "t" consonant. The same technique is also used on the main vocal track but it can do wonders for the reverb when used pre- input.
It's a great trick to getting that smoky breathy sound.
