What is glottal compression?

Just curious, what does the term 'glottal compression' mean? And it's relationship to support? Or is it support itself?

Thanks

Re: What is glottal compression?

Compression is the force that induces vocal fold closure. It is not support, but respiratory support is one component that can assist in vocal fold closure, which is a reaction to an increase in "compression".

Check this out, Stan: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H__nwMClsxY. Although this is definitely not the only way to do compression. Compression is the same as the "hold" in CVT. It's also called cry or moan, by some.

stan yes... say the words "uh, oh."

(like when a child might say "uh, oh, i made a mistake.") feel how your folds come together?
