RODE NTK

anybody ever tried this?
IT's a vacumm condenser microphone.
It's the only one I use in my recordings..through an avalon 737 it sounds terrific on high ends and it cuts through the mix with a very very classic but modern sound.

Re: RODE NTK

Robert,

AWESOME !!!  "Blue Rain" is one of my favs.... I think I mentioned that to you once...

Actually, I'd recommend "Back to the Line" (your CD) to everyone....

Also, I don't own a Condenser mic yet...Any recommendations of a decent one that I don't have to mortgage my home to buy? (i.e. the Neumann's and some of the Rode's). I realize you "get what you pay for", but I have to stay within a budget just as everyone else does. I was checking out the Electro-Voice and Shure Line(s), as I like my E-V 767a Supercardiod, and the Shure SM58 Cardiod. I was wondering if their condensers were of the same quality...???

A purchase for ME, after the holidays, of course....

Re: RODE NTK

man..The Rode NT1 rewrote the history of condenser mics for home studios.
Go for it (about I think 250us new) and you'll be blown away.
Think that some very high professional acts are using rode mics in the studio...
never seen such a great quality for such low prices..
the ntk it's one of the most expensive of theirs...I had it for 760 euros.
But now it's vital for my studio works.
Great song Blue Rain bro:-)))))
Great production on the vocals!!!!!!

Re: RODE NTK

Thanks Ale...Some of the "Rode's" I've looked at were MUCH MORE !  $250.00 isn't bad at all...
And the Neumann's are WAY OUT THERE !!!

Blue Rain kicks butt... Nocturne (on the same CD is another fav of mine)

Re: RODE NTK

I use both a Rode NTK and an ADK Vintage Tube for recording. I came across the ADK quite by accident - I auditioned around 30 different mics, and the ADK just happened to be one of the selection on offer. I regard it as being far superior to the Rode NTK for vocals - while admitting at the same time that this might be a very personal choice (it just happenes to suit my own voice perfectly). The 30 mics I tried out included many 'standards' (including Neumann U87s), but the ADK VT was best for me.
The difficulty is of course, that it is getting more and more difficult to find dealers who will allow try-outs on mics - due to the current obesession with health & safety!
