Superunkown-Soundgarden 20M Tenor

I did this cover in like 15 minutes. I struggle with the chorus, but it's a pretty good example of where my voice is and what I sound like. I am completely untrained.

It sounds like you have a lot of potential and with some work can probably be really good. I'm not really into this style of music or vocals so tips or real critique is a bit out of range for me. However, I did feel that the vocals were mostly sharp. To my ears at least.  My first thought, if this is the case, would be that there was too much effort placed on the voice. Singing should be easy. Effort is done in practice.

Re: Superunkown-Soundgarden 20M Tenor

Thanks for the response. You are right I am putting in effort to sing this song. I have heard that singing should be easy and effortless, how would one go about that? That is something I would like to work out with a teacher unfortunately I cannot afford one. If I could I would be taking lessons all the time. I feel like working out my technique with a teacher is what is keeping me from being a truly good singer.

Re: Superunkown-Soundgarden 20M Tenor

Man i think this is a very good try, sure there are some pitchy spots and some other stuff that needs work but Im gonna focus on what you did good.
This song is very very hard, and it would be a big challenge even for Many of the stronger singers on this forum.

1.Your distortion sounds is placed well

2.you also nailed that chris cornell "spot" in the voice. It's powerfull and floats kindo inbetween the belts the heavymetalscreams.

3. your 20 years Old and tackling chris cornell stuff, practice the song one month pay attention to detail and pitch youll nail this

Congrats cheers

Pretty good sound, of what I could hear. I think the mix needs more punch on the vocal track. Get rid of some of the  lower frequencies. Roll off the high-pass filter at 200 Hz. This should get rid of some air and the fuzzy pillow effect. Give a slight nudge up at about 2.5 kHz. That way, your voice gets more cut in this mix.
